The stories of the people who lived in 7 Hammersmith Terrace and Kelmscott House are fascinating, rich and varied. Not just the lives of two prestigious men of the Arts & Crafts movement, Emery Walker & William Morris, but the lives of their families and friends, means that these houses are full of stories collected over more than a century. We embarked on a creative writing project to discover and bring these stories to life with young people from the area. Teachers and students from Fulham Cross Girls’ School were invited to visit both house museums.
Christine Hollywood helped the students to use their creative writing skills to explore the relationships, struggles, defining moments, thoughts and feelings of the people in these houses. Take a look for yourself at their exploring the Hidden Stories of Hammersmith.
